Using Windows 10.
I am frequently downloading files from a document control system into my Downloads folder.
Contrary to expectations, the File Explorer window, when sorted by "Date modified" or "Date last saved", does not surface the recently downloaded file. Both fields are populated by with the date the file was most recently modified/saved in the document control system.
This question was asked and answered in 2021, but the accepted answer is not correct, at least in my case. According to this post, the "Date last saved" is not guaranteed to contain anything meaningful. I can confirm. I've seen at least one example in which the "Date last saved" was populated with 1/1/1900.
Workarounds include search for the file by name or sorting by name and hunting through the sorted list. These are grossly inefficient.
What is the best way to quickly find the most recently downloaded files in a folder?
