So I've got a laptop currently dual booting windows and linux. I primarily use the linux installation, but I have certain things that need to be on windows. Currently I have bitlocker set up on windows, which I do prefer to have, but sometimes changes that linux makes to the system trips bitlocker and causes it to need the recovery key. This has happened a few times now and having to enter the key in is pretty annoying. Is it possible to unlock it through a file saved on a USB stick? And I don't just mean putting the key onto a stick and typing it in from that, I have access to the key but typing it in is really annoying.
If not, I'll probably just turn off bitlocker entirely, anything I would want encrypted is on my linux install anyway which has encryption. But it'd be nice if I could just unlock bitlocker faster when needed.
Side note - is there a way to look through logs somewhere and find out what exactly triggered bitlocker to need the recovery key? I think I know what it was this time but I'd like to be sure.
